I thought I would do something a bit different this year and share some of my favourite books, movies and tv shows so you have a list of recommendations ahead of the holiday season. For books, I’ll do a recap of my favourite books I’ve read this year.
I hope you enjoy these recap, What I’ve Been Reading posts. Personally I love having a sticky beak and seeing what people are reading. I’m always screen shotting book recommendations, so I thought I would make it easier by just doing a blog post. But if you would prefer to have mini reviews on Instagram just let me know.
Crazy Rich People by Kevin Kwan
This is the third book in the series, so I guess I’m kinda jumping a head when recommending this book. Let’s take it back to the first book, Crazy Rich Asians. It’s literally a story about crazy rich Asians and the challenges of an Asian family. Its funny and so relatable- since I’m Asian and a bit crazy. Unfortunately I’m not rich…. I don’t know what it is about the book, but honestly I just loved it. And having been to Singapore recently it was great to see all the places mentioned in the book.
I was a little late with this quarterly what I’ve been reading as I read quite a few duds. When I mentioned it to my friend she suggested I include the books I didn’t like as well. What do you think? Would you like me to mention the duds as well and explain why I didn’t like them?
Now onto the books I did like….
The Good Teacher- R.M Anderson
I was kindly gifted this by the lovely Sarah from @morethanadored. She asked me to be part of a blogging book club and I was like, why not? So having had no idea about this book my expectations were low. But after reading only a few pages I was hooked. The book literally jumps into the good stuff straight away. The story is based in a small country town and talks about community, family values, love and romance. It’s a great story line and while I know Sarah struggled at first with the changing perspectives, each chapter is told by a different character, I personally loved it. I thought it was done very well. So if you’re after an easy but compelling book please check this out.
