As most of you know, I decided to do my own makeup for the wedding. I’m such a control freak and know what I like so I wanted to do my makeup myself. No offence to makeup artists, but whenever I’ve had my makeup done I feel its too heavy and I don’t look like myself. On my wedding day, the key was to look like myself. So get a cup of tea, coffee or wine, its gonna be a long post!
Unexpected combo but I really liked it. Both are medium to full coverage and last really well when used together. I mixed about a pump of each which was more than enough.
Of course I wanted some extra chisel, so I used the dark shades to contour under my cheek bones and lightly on my forehead and jaw line.
I used this on a big fluffy brush to set my face, avoiding the under eyes and contour areas.
To set the under eye concealer, I use the banana shade. Then moving onto the contour and bronzer shade, I applied this in a 3 motion over the cream contour.
The Balm- Betty Lou Manizer
I know its excessive to use three bronzers/ contours but hey- what cha gonna do? I used this lightly on the top of my cheekbones and forehead for a hint of glow.
Becca X Jaclyn Hill Face Palette
I mix the two pink shades of the blush and apply to the apples of my cheeks. For the highlighter, I tend to mix the two and apply to the tops of my cheekbones. Also I received so many compliments about my highlighter so thank you Becca and Jaclyn Hill x
Benefit Brow Zing- Medium
MAC Eyeshadow- Soft Brown
Soft Brown is my go to crease colour. I blend a bit in my crease using a MAC 217 brush (think fluffy brush).
MAC Eyeshadow- Woodwinked
Woodwinked is the most gorgeous subtle goldy eyeshadow. It adds a bit of sheen on the lids without blinding you. The best way to apply this eyeshadow is using a flat shader brush as you get more impact. And to finish off the eye look I blended some more, added a bit of black eyeshadow to my top lash line. No mascara needed as I had eye lash extensions- best decision ever!
I did the same lip combo as my Hen’s lunch because I knew it worked and would last all day with minimal touch ups. I liked that it was a bit pinky, but also nude so it added colour without being in your face.
And of course to set my makeup I had my trusty setting spray from Cover FX. It was a warm day when we got married and my makeup looked pretty darn good! I didn’t use any powder to touch up, only an extra spritz just before photos.
About the Dress
For the dress, I chose the Sofia from Made with Love. When I saw it online I knew it was going to be the perfect dress for me- shape and style. I tried on Willow first because I always imagined myself getting married in a big princess dress, but honestly it just made me look fat. Once I tried on Sofia I knew I was done, it was everything I hoped for. I also bought my veil from Made with Love and changed into a flower crown for lunch. With my dress and veil I cut off the train as personally I don’t like that look and was so happy with the end result.
Made with Love is a great option if you’re after an affordable wedding dress. Personally I didn’t want to spend more than $1000 for a dress, but I ended up spending more but not a ridiculous amount.
So there you have it, my makeup glam. If I’m completely honest it wasn’t the best job I’ve ever done but I was still extremely happy with how I looked on the day. I felt and looked myself and that’s what I was going for.
