A couple of months ago I started a new series on the blog called, What I’ve Been Reading. It’s a short recap of the books that I’ve loved and I wanted to share them with you in case you needed a new book. Some of these are old favourites that I haven’t read recently but I still wanted to share them with you. Click here to check out my list from last month in case you want to check it out.
The Nightingale- Kristin Hannah
I read this book as part of my book club and loved it! It’s not a book I typically would read, but I enjoyed every moment of it. It’s about 2 sisters in France during WWII and it explores the bravery of these 2 sisters and that of all women during war time. I know I’m not selling it, but you need to give it a go. It’s an easy read so don’t get put off. Also its about to be made into a movie, so you know its got to be good!
The Girl with All the Gifts- M.R Carey
I think I saw this recommendation from Fleur De Force and I have to say thank you because it’s such a unique book that I would never have selected for myself. Now if you’re a fan of The Walking Dead you will love this. I know it sounds weird, and personally I didn’t want to read about zombies but this is so well written it makes it easy and enjoyable to read. This book is a bit Sci-Fi/ Fantasy but really well written.
The Happiest Refugee- Anh Do
And now to one of my all-time favourite books, The Happiest Refuge. Anh Do is a well-known Australian comedian and when he talks about his upbringing, he makes it so colourful and enjoyable to read. I think I loved it so much because I come from a migrant family, so a lot of the stories well relatable. I made my Aunty read it and she loved it as well. Mum and I also went to his live show version of the book and I fell in love with him even more. I know I sound obsessive, but he really does have such an amazing story.
Please let me know if you read any of these books. I would love to know what you thought of them, even if you didn’t like them x
