With the weather cooling down, my oily skin can finally cope with some glowy foundations. Here’s a run down of my favourite bases for the cooler weather, ideally for oily skin gals but suitable for all skin types.
Maybelline Super Stay Primer* + Nude by Nature Sheer BB Cream* + Tarte Amazonian Clay Airbrush Foundation
This trio is my go to for light coverage, fresh looking makeup that won’t slip off my face. The primer is fantastic for prolonging the wear of any foundation and I love how thin it is. The Nude by Nature BB Cream is really sheer, so I set it with the Tarte powder to provide more coverage and to make sure my base lasts all day. Even though I set my base with this powder, my natural oils come through which provides me with a natural glowy look throughout the day.
Becca Backlight Priming Filter* + Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Poreless Foundation
This duo is perfect for every day as it provides medium coverage. You know my love for this primer, its glowy but doesn’t make me oily #winning. The Maybelline foundation on the other hand has never been a fave. Don’t get me wrong it’s a good foundation but I’ve never been wowed by it. Together these provide a luminous base for every day at work, and night time if I don’t want full coverage.
Becca Backlight Priming Filter* + Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Foundation + Kat Von D Lock It Foundation*
Again, I love this primer. It creates such a lovely base and isn’t glittery. For foundation I mix a bit of the Kat Von D and Tarte foundation. The Kat Von D foundation is quite thick and full coverage and if I’m completely honest the colour is not an exact match which is why I decided to mix it in the first place. The Tarte Rainforest of the Sea foundation hasn’t been a fave as well as the colour is too light for me. It’s also a really liquidy foundation which I thought would be nice to mx with the Kat Von D one so it wouldn’t be as thick and full coverage. The two mixed together are a match made in heaven! The combo provides me with a medium- full coverage base and because the Tarte foundation is light weight it leaves me skin looking less flat.
Hope you like my combos! Let me know if you try any of my recommendations. I think mixing foundations are great to get the perfect colour and desired finish. What are you favourite base combos?
