Hello beauties,
As part of my goals for 2017, I’m becoming even more focussed on my health and fitness. In addition, my girlfriend got married at the beginning of February, and as Maid of Honour I had to look my best. Since first trying on my bridesmaid dress I had put on approximately 3 kilos and had to lose it quick smart. Here’s what I did to lose the weight.
Work Out 5 days a Week
This isn’t new to me, I always work out 5 days a week. I predominately do classes and also have 1 personal training session a week. In the lead up to my friend’s wedding I bumped up my PT sessions to twice a week. PT isn’t essential, but personally I’m not motivated and I need the extra push.
For my workouts I do a mix of cardio and strength work. My PT recommended I start running to quickly lose the weight. Personally, I hate running so I don’t do it. But I’ve slowly incorporated some running into my work outs and I’ve found its helped my endurance.
YouFoodz
Because I always work out, I knew it was my diet that was letting me down in terms of losing weight. I don’t eat unhealthy, I just eat too much. My girlfriend introduced me to YouFoodz and its amazing! YouFoodz is a food service that makes fresh not frozen meals. YouFoodz is great for people that don’t like to cook, time poor or are wanting to lose weight.
With YouFoodz I select the lower calorie meals. I found that when I was strict with my calories and working out consistently I would shed the weight quickly. I would typically eat 1000 to 1200 calories a day and found that I would lose anywhere from 600 grams to 1 kilo a week.
The YouFoodz meals are tasty and fresh. Yes, some meals taste better than others but it all comes down to personal preference. It’s also reasonably priced at $9.95 a meal with a minimum order of 7 meals = $69.95.
I found that by working out regulary and eating YouFoodz I lost the weight quickly but it was those weekends that still pulled me down. Over three weeks I lost 1.5kilos which I was happy with but probably should have pushed myself to eat YouFoodz 7 days a week and I would have seen better results.
Pressed Juice- Juice Cleanse
I’m not pro juice cleanse at all, so please don’t get me wrong. I’ve done them in the past for a quick head start in my health journey but I don’t encourage them at all. I did a juice cleanse just before my friend’s wedding because I was really conscious I wouldn’t lose enough weight. When I first tried on the dress it was snug around my belly, so that plus the extra weight I had put on, I was paranoid.
Looking back on how well I did with YouFoodz and working out, I shouldn’t have done a juice cleanse but I had already paid and organised it.
I did a three day juice cleanse, and it went better than it has in the past. I was less moody and bitchy but I still felt lethargic. After the three days I lost 1.1 kilos which I was really disappointed with. In the past I’ve lost about 2 to 3 kilos.
Over the month I had lost 2.5 kilos which is less than my goal of 3 kilos. While I’m slightly disappointed the key to remember its not about kilos its about measurements. In this instance I didn’t measure myself as I didn’t have time. But when losing weight you need to look at centimetres lost not kilos as you tend to build more muscle.
Below are some photos of the final outcome, me in my bridesmaid dress.
Going forward no more juice cleanses, I just need to eat in moderation. Let me know if you have any questions xx

You look amazing in that bridesmaid dress! I’ve been exercising a bit lately and it’s hard to not use the scales as your only unit of measurement when muscle weighs more than fat, so weight gain isn’t necessarily a bad thing. But it’s hard to tell yourself that when you get on the scales and they’ve gone up! xx

I know what you mean. I’m lucky and my trainer measures me, but day to day its easy to use the scales. The scales do lie, they don’t take into account muscle xx

You looked amazing in that dress! Totally great job. Lately I don’t have time or energy to go to gym after or before work l, so I hope one day I’ll get used to it and go back to my healthier routine.
