Hello bloggers,
This post is for all the bloggers out there! I’ve been blogging @rachelbeautystyle for about a year and a half and prior to that was blogging with a friend for about a year. Today’s post is all about what I’ve learnt along the way and how I’ve grown my following. I’m by no means an expert and am definitely still learning myself.
Don’t blog with a friend
Blogging with my friend was a great starting point as we both learnt the blogging world together. We didn’t fight or have any arguments but it got to a point where I wanted to do my own thing. When you blog with a friend you still need to ask permission and make sure you don’t overlap. I think it may be different with a sibling, but personally blogging with a friend didn’t work for me long term.
Plan your blog posts
I always plan my blog posts about a month in advance. I colour coordinate by theme; skincare, makeup, hair care and other so I know not to post too many articles around a particular theme. I also take note of reviews, routines and Makeup of the Days to ensure variety.
Post consistently
This applies both to Instagram and Blogging. With my blog I post 3 times a week but I always meet this commitment. You do you! If you can only blog once a week, that’s fine, just make sure you always blog once a week. In regards to Instagram I post about 2 to 3 times a day during peak times, morning commute, lunch or evening commute and bed time. I highly recommend getting an Instagram Business Account as you can gain so many insights into your followers and trends.
Lighting
My photos is an area of development for me. Photos are key to blogging and my tip is to focus on lighting. People want to see visually appealing photos and good lighting helps! I take my photos during the day with natural lighting and tweak my photos with the app Snapseed.
I hope these tips help you with your blogging career! If there’s some tips you’ve learnt along the way please make sure to comment below xx

Great tips! I’ve wondered about whether to change over to a business IG account. Would love to see what stats they provide before making up my mind.

You should do it! The only annoying thing is you need a FB page for your blog, but you already have that so its easy!

I’m impressed with how organised you are! My first year of blogging I had a strict schedule but now I’m a bit all over the snow!

I’m probably too organised, but its good in a way because I’m never short of ideas. And if I’m unsure what to blog about I ask my followers what they want to see!

I can NEVER be consistent with my blog posts… I’ll try for a while and then drop off the face of the earth :s
I’ll try harder…

Thank Loi for checking out my post! You’re so consistent with your Instagram and that’s where you have your followers so its understandable that you’re inconsistent with your blog. Maybe start off slow with a new blog post once a week?
