I had the lovely pleasure of attending the Discover QV event, introducing their new ambassador Kate Ritchie! Dr Penny Alexander, leading Dermatologist shared some tips to stay hydrated this winter which I’ll be sharing with you today. I also had the opportunity to test my skin to see how hydrated or dehydrated my skin was. Now I knew my skin was dry, but I was actually a 9 out of 100 on my arms which is severely dehydrated!! Lucky for all of you, QV are giving you the opportunity to test your hydration levels at your local shopping centre, from July 1. Make sure to check out their website and facebook page for location and dates.
Dr Penny’s tips for healthy skin this winter:
- Look for products with Glycerin as it prevents the loss of moisture in the skin. All of QV products contain different levels of Glycerin to suit all skin types
- Avoid soap as its strips the skin of natural oils
- Make sure to wear SPF even in winter
- Avoid unnecessary chemicals, fragrances and additives. This is why I love the QV range, its free of all the nasties and super gentle on the skin
- Don’t spend too long in a hot shower as the hot water can dry out your skin
- Choose the right moisturiser for you
This is a lightly moisturising body cleanser with 10% glycerin. This is a milky gel like texture and produces a light lather in the shower. If you have oily skin then this would be most suitable, however all skin types can use this.
This is very similar to the QV Wash. Honestly I didn’t notice much of a difference, however it states that this contains 15% glycerin, so more hydration.
This is a light weight lotion texture body cleanser. It’s slightly thicker than the other washes but still quite thin in texture. This contains 60% glycerin and would be suitable to dry skin types, however during the cooler months all skin types can benefit from this.
This is a light moisturiser, ideal for preventing and soothing dry skin with 5% glycerin. It’s so extremely light weight, but still provides a decent amount of hydration. I also love that it dries really quickly!
This is a thick cream that can be used on the face or body. It contains 10% glycerin and helps replenish and relieve dry areas. While it is a thicker formula its still absorbs quickly into the skin, leaving skin feeling nourished. Personally I would only use this at night time on my face or anytime on my body as my skin is oily/ combination.
This a great lightweight moisturiser targeted for oily skin types. Because my skin is oily/ combination this works perfectly as a base under makeup. Its moisturising and slightly mattifying. My friend who has really dry skin also tried this and loves it, she says it still provided enough hydration for her skin.
I hope this provides you a better insight into QV and also how to keep your skin hydrated during winter. Personally I love how gentle all the QV products are, that they’re not scented and they’re priced quite reasonably starting from about $8. With all the QV washes you can use them on your body and is also gentle to use on your face. QV is available from Priceline, Chemist Warehouse and selected pharmacies.
