Review: Garnier Micellar Water

Hello beauties,

I think it’s fair to say we’ve all tried Micellar Water. If you haven’t it’s definitely worth trying it at least once. Disclaimer, I personally don’t like using Micellar Water. I think it takes me a lot longer to remove my makeup and I use way more cotton rounds (6 to 8) than if I was to use a face wipes. Yes I know face wipes are naughty but I use them rarely when I’m lazy or on holidays.

What is Micellar Water?

Micellar Water looks like water but isn’t. Micellar Water contains special molecules that clutch onto dirt and makeup and removes them in an effective and gentle manner.

Garnier was one of the first drugstore brands to launch Micellar Water to compete with Bioderma, and honestly it seemed just as effective as the more expensive Bioderma. A couple years on and now Garnier has introduced 2 new Micellar Waters to their range, but is there any difference?

Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water*

  • The original micellar cleansing water from Garnier
  • Suitable for all skin types
  • Effective and gently at removing base makeup
  • Out of all the Garnier Micellar Water I find the original Garnier Micellar Water to be the most effective at removing eye makeup

Garnier Pure Active Micellar Water*

  • Targeted at acne prone skin to effectively remove impurities
  • Felt, smelt and looked exactly like the original Garnier Micellar Water
  • Effective and gentle at removing base makeup
  • Wasn’t very effective at removing eye makeup, I needed go in a second time and still had left over eye makeup

Garnier Skin Active Micellar Cleansing Water for Combination to Oily Skin*

  • Target at oily to combination skin
  • Felt, smelt and looked exactly like the original Garnier Micellar Water
  • Effective at removing base and eye makeup (much better than the Pure Active Micellar Water)

All the Garnier Micellar Waters retail for $13.95 which is more than half the price of Bioderma. If you’re interested in trying Micellar Water then start with Garnier, cheap yet effective. Personally I’m not a fan of using Micellar Water for removing my makeup at the end of the day, but I love having it round to touch up my winged eyeliner or remove any mascara smudges.

Currently not available to purchase online from Priceline but I have seen it in stores x
