Review: Weleda Skin Food

Hello beauties,

I’ve been dying to try the cult favourite, Weleda Skin Food* for years but never did because I was hesitant it would be too heavy for my oily skin. But lucky for me I was gifted this at the Bloggers United Sydney Event!

About Weleda Skin Food

What Weleda says about Skin Food, “this celebrity favourite, is 100% natural and include extracts of organic chamomile, calendula and wild pansy to soothe rough skin. Revitalising rosemary will boost dull complexions. These calming extracts are gently blended with enriching sunflower, lanolin and sweet almond oils and waxes to provide a fine protective barrier against the ravages of wind and weather. Sweet orange and lavandulae pure essential oils are included in the refreshing fragrance.”

Overall Thoughts:

  • It’s quite a thick texture
  • You only need a small amount
  • I like to squeeze some onto the palms of my hands, warm it up, then massage onto my skin
  • It blends and absorbs quickly into the skin
  • You can feel it on the skin at first but soon after it sinks in
  • Its smells beautiful! Very herbal and organic (is that even a smell?)

Because this is quite a thick cream I prefer to use it when my skin is feeling dehydrated and only at night time. I have used it during the morning as a primer as recommended but it didn’t do too much to keep my oils at bay. However it didn’t make my makeup melt off my face, so if you have dry skin this would be a great day moisturiser/ primer. When I use this at night, the next day I feel like my skin looks more hydrated and refreshed.

The great thing about Weleda Skin Food is, you’re not limited in just applying it to your face. You can use it anywhere you have dry skin (eg. elbows, knees). Personally I’m very excited to use this on my next long haul flight, as I think it’s going to keep me super hydrated!

Weleda is available from health food stores and speciality retailers.
