Disclaimer alert!!! I do not have perfect skin, I am not a skin specialist and I am by no means a “know it all”…
Hello beauties,
Since starting my blog, my skin was playing up a bit. In recent months it’s finally calmed down and I wanted so share with you some of my learnings.
My skin is combination- oily, but slightly dehydrated. In the past couple of months I haven’t had any blemishes (I’m so surprised) but if I do, it’s around my nose or chin (hormonal zones..)
Here’s a quick update of my skin now that I’ve been using Ultraceuticals products. Below is January 2017.
Here are a few things that helped clear up my skin:
Back to Basics
I stopped trying new products, and stuck to a basic skincare routine. Here’s my morning and evening skincare routine.
Face Masks
To draw out the excess oils and dry out any blemishes I try to do a weekly face mask, and if I have extra time I do it twice a week. My favourites are; Glam Glow (review here) and Mint Julep.
Hero Product!
Alpha H Liquid Gold has been a life saviour! I’ve used this on and off for years and I notice when I use this, my skin looks it best (review here).
Supplements
Fish Oil Tablets are a great source of fatty acids and are beneficial for your skin! I take 2 tablets every day (when I remember…)
Healthy Diet
So simple, but thought I should remind you all. If I’ve been eating terrible or drinking a lot it shows on my skin. Lucky for me I don’t drink soft drinks and am a big lover for water. Make sure to drink loads of water, it really does help!
Minimise Your Milk Intake
There have been a few articles suggesting that milk leads to acne however no research proves this. Some dermatologists recommend cutting down on milk if you’re suffering from acne. I’ve taken this approach for the last 8 months and my skin has cleared up dramatically. I still have coffee and yogurt etc but have smaller portions so I don’t become intolerant and my skin won’t play up.
Some of my other favourite beauty products to help keep my skin clear:
- Trilogy Rosehip Oil or Pai Rosehip Oil (basically just buy Rosehip Oil)
- Mario Badescu Drying Lotion
