Hello beauties,
I think its fair to say the liquid lipstick craze has fully taken off! Personally I’ve found it quite overwhelming as there’s so many choices and various price points. To help you out I wanted to share my liquid lipstick collection with you all. I’ll provide a quick review and a lipstick swatch of all the colours I have (be warned there’s quite a lot).
NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream $12.95
The NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams were my first foray into the liquid lipstick field and what a great place to start! Such a great colour selection, awesome quality and better yet they’re a bargain! They last quite well on the lips but are very drying (nothing a little lip balm can’t fix).
Sephora Cream Lip Stain USD $14
Another affordable option that is great quality. Unfortunately the colour selection isn’t that great and on top of that Sephora is near impossible to get in Australia. But if you are in a Sephora definitely check these out. They have great staying power and survive food and drinks well.
Jeffree Star Cosmetics Velour Liquid Lipstick USD $18
Relatively new to the market, but a big hit in the blogger community. Bold colours, both wearable and out there… Long lasting (however I noticed it can be transferable) and not too drying on the lips. A great alternative to the Lime Crime Velvetines below.
Lime Crime Velvetines USD $20
I think everyone jumped on the bandwagon when these came out. The Lime Crime Velvetines really were leading edge when they first came out. Amazing bold colours, extremely long lasting power and not drying on the lips. However with the current Lime Crime scandal still continuing you might not want to purchase from their online store. Lucky there are a few alternatives (pretty much every other option being discussed now).
Kat Von D Everlasting Lipstick USD $20.00
Another great alternative to the Lime Crime Velvetines. There are so many shades available and the colours are more wearable then the Lime Crime and Jeffree Star counter parts. I find the Everlasting Lipstick truly does last a long time and is comfortable on the lips. However after some time (5 hours or more) my lips can become quite dry, but hey my lipstick still looks fab.
YSL Kiss and Blush $59.00
The YSL Kiss and Blush can be used both on the lips and cheeks, however I’ve only used it on the lips. I find that its quite creamy and not as pigmented, however you can build up the colour. The lasting power is alright, but because its quite creamy its easy to reapply and comfortable on the lips.
I should also mention I’ve tried the Australis Velourlips and I’m not a fan. I find them difficult to apply and build up the colour. Also throughout the day, I find the lipstick begins to ball or crumble in the middle of the lip. Definitely a no go for me, however I know loads of people that love them and have no problems…
And a bit of a dupe alert, as you can see that all the red liquid lipsticks look exactly the same. If I had to choose my favourite out of the three it would be the Lime Crime Velvetine in Red Velvet.
More recently, I’ve done an updated Liquid Lipstick Swatch Fest. Click here to see my latest Liquid Lipsticks.

I am only getting into liquid lipsticks so your guide is really helpful. The ones from NYX are my favourite so far, although they have a slightly different feel comparing to the newer liquid lipsticks formulations.
