My 4 Favourite MAC Lipsticks

Hello beauties!

Similar to my MAC Starter Eyeshadow Quad article, I thought I’d share some of my favourite MAC lipsticks with you all. I know it can be overwhelming when you see all the colours lined up so here’s a few to start with.

MAC Lipstick- Twig (Satin)

This is my go to neutral, work appropriate lipstick. This is equivalent to my ‘Kylie Jenner’ lip colour. It’s a dark mauvey brown shade that has a slight sheen to it. It wears beautifully throughout the day and is a great no fuss lipstick for me.

MAC Lipstick- Brave (Satin)

Brave is very similar to Twig, however it’s a lighter more pink shade. I think this looks beautiful on fairer ladies. I lent it to my friend and she fell in love with the colour! For me I wear this when I want to be work appropriate but with a hint more colour.

Apologies for the unimpressed face…

MAC Lipstick- Rebel (Satin)

One of my first most daring lipsticks and my most loved. It’s a pinkey/ purple lipstick and can look quite different on each person. On me it’s quite purple however I have seen it look pinker on other people. I love this lipstick to change up any makeup look. It has a staining effect which is great because it lasts well into the night, however sometimes I have noticed a slight bleeding effect. For a drugstore alternative, I found that the Milani lipstick in Sangria to be quite a similar colour match however it has more of a matte/ dry formula and finish.

MAC Lipstick- Lady Danger (Matte)

I love a good red, but have so many that I never gave into the MAC Ruby Woo hype (let’s be honest I’ll probably cave soon). To be a little different I picked Lady Danger a matte orangey red. I love this colour as I feel it makes my teeth look super white! It’s great as a bold statement lip or you can dab it on to create a stain effect. Because it’s matte it’s quite long wearing but be warned it is drying as well (nothing a little lip balm can’t help you with). For a drugstore alternative, I found Maybelline Color Drama in Fab Orange to be quite a similar colour match, however it has a sheen instead of matte finish (also its more comfortable to wear).

On a side note, the MAC Retro Matte formula lipsticks are horrendous! While the colours are beautiful and swatch smoothly on the hand when applied to your lips they are the driest formula ever. Stay away!
